Georgian wine
about us
Our History
Our story begins long before Rtvelisi was officially established. It can be traced back to 1920, when a historic patriarchal cellar
passed down through generations was lovingly restored. Today, this very cellar continues to house the heart of our production.
The inspiration for Rtvelisi was born during the harvest season a time of celebration, unity, and gratitude for the vine. Our name itself
is a homage to the Georgian tradition of "Rtveli" the sacred act of grape picking, an 8,000-year-old ritual that binds our people to the
land.
From the very first day, we set out with a clear purpose: to craft wines of uncompromising quality and unforgettable taste, carrying
Georgia’s winemaking heritage into the future.
Rtvelisi is not just a name, it is a promise. In both Georgian and international markets, we are dedicated to producing wines of the
highest standard, distinguished by their exceptional taste and character.
Our factory
In the heart of Georgia’s wine industry, Rtvelisi is located in Telavi, where the ideal altitude ranges from 550 to 880 meters above sea level, which creates the perfect conditions for cultivating world-class wines. This unique terroir, shaped by the Caucasus
Mountains and the Alazani Valley allow us to produce wines that are both distinctive and deeply expressive of their origin.
Our winery, based in the village of Shalauri near Telavi, Kakheti, is where ancient traditions merge with modern innovation.
Equipped with cutting-edge European technology and a world-class laboratory, our facility allows us to uphold the highest standards of quality
while preserving the soul of Georgian winemaking.
At Rtvelisi, we do not simply produce wine, we craft experiences, bottled memories, and a taste of Georgia’s rich heritage. Every sip
tells a story, and every bottle carries the heart of our land.
Our vineyards
Spread across 250 hectares, our vineyards are located both in unique micro-zones of Kakheti and in more traditional vineyard areas.
We cultivate Rkatsiteli, Saperavi, Kisi, Kakhuri Mtsvane, and other classic Georgian grape varieties.
With each passing season, we continue to expand, exploring new terroirs across Georgia to bring the most authentic wines to our partners and customers.
Chief Winemaker
A vast team of winemakers and technologists is tasked with the responsibility of bottling Rtvelisi wines and strong alcoholic drinks.
The winemaking team is led by Giorgi Babunidze, one of Georgia's most renowned and experienced winemakers.
